BrightEdge Review: Enterprise AI SEO Tracking Across Markets

BrightEdge is an enterprise SEO platform. Its AI Catalyst module tracks brand mentions and page citations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, with prompts mapped to stages of the buyer journey. Around it sit three other AI tools. AI Hyper Cube analyses AI Overviews, AI Agent Insights reads server logs, and Site Agents change internal links and structured data automatically. The platform has long supported search tracking in many countries and languages, which suits global brands. BrightEdge sells by quote, and whether AI Catalyst is included or extra depends on your contract. It suits enterprises already running SEO on BrightEdge. Newcomers should compare it with AI-first platforms before signing.

What does AI Catalyst track?

According to BrightEdge's product pages:

  • Engines: ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode.
  • Mentions and citations, reported separately as mention presence and citation presence, so you can see when AI names you without citing your pages, or the reverse.
  • Prompts mapped to the buyer journey, from early research to comparison and purchase.
  • Competitors and sources, including which domains AI cites for your topics.

BrightEdge also uses AI Catalyst and AI Hyper Cube for public research. A September 2026 study of an insurance prompt panel, for example, found government sites such as healthcare.gov gaining a much larger share of ChatGPT citations over one month, and advised reporting mention share and citation share side by side.

What else does BrightEdge add for AI search?

  • AI Hyper Cube shows which searches trigger AI Overviews and who wins the citations. BrightEdge's research using similar data found only about 17% of AI Overview sources also ranked in the organic top ten.
  • AI Agent Insights reads log files to show AI agents visiting your site. BrightEdge reported about 88 AI agent visits for every 100 human organic visits, with most agent activity from OpenAI.
  • Site Agents Suite, formerly Autopilot, maintains internal links and schema automatically and pushes approved title and heading changes to your CMS.
  • Copilot and Instant help with content and real-time keyword research.

How does it handle multiple markets?

BrightEdge's core platform supports search tracking across many country and language combinations, which one third-party comparison puts at 145. That breadth is a reason global brands choose it. What is less documented publicly is how far AI Catalyst's tracking extends across the same markets and languages. For a multi-market programme, confirm three things: which countries and languages AI Catalyst covers for each engine, whether prompts are written natively per language or translated, and whether results can be split by market in reports. How AI answers differ by language and country is covered in whether AI visibility trackers are precise enough for local SEO.

BrightEdge Prism review for enterprises already using BrightEdge SEO

We found no BrightEdge product called Prism. "Prism" is the name of a separate marketing AI product from another company, Pixis, which may explain the confusion. For enterprises already using BrightEdge for SEO, the relevant AI product is AI Catalyst, together with AI Hyper Cube, AI Agent Insights and Site Agents.

For existing customers, the case for using them is strong. Your keywords, pages, competitors and reports are already in the platform, so AI visibility sits beside rankings and traffic without new integrations, logins or procurement. Teams already trained on BrightEdge can start quickly, and AI data can flow into the same executive reports. The main reasons to look elsewhere are narrower engine coverage than some AI-first tools, which also track Claude, Copilot and Grok, and less published detail on prompt methods.

Is BrightEdge AI Catalyst worth the extra cost?

It depends first on whether there is an extra cost. BrightEdge does not publish prices, and one competitor's comparison states that AI Catalyst is included in BrightEdge SEO platform subscriptions rather than sold as an add-on. Ask your account team what your contract includes, and whether prompt volumes, engines or markets carry separate charges.

If it is included or modestly priced, it is usually worth using for existing customers: the marginal cost is low and the data joins your SEO reporting. If it carries a large add-on fee, compare it with AI-first platforms on the same prompts. Those tools often cover more engines and offer deeper citation or accuracy analysis, but add a second vendor. For companies not already on BrightEdge, AI Catalyst is rarely a reason on its own to buy the whole platform. More detail is in BrightEdge vs seoClarity and BrightEdge AI Catalyst vs Conductor.

How should you report AI Catalyst data?

Keep mention presence and citation presence as separate lines in every report, as BrightEdge itself recommends. Then add three views that leadership can act on:

  • By buyer journey stage, since weak visibility at the comparison stage costs more than at the research stage.
  • By market, so a strong result in one country does not hide a gap in another.
  • By source type, showing whether AI cites your pages, retailers, publishers or government sites.

Pair each monthly report with two or three example answers, so readers see what the numbers describe, and note any model updates that month.

Where does it fall short?

  • Engines: five named; Claude, Copilot and Grok are not listed.
  • Method detail: run frequency, sampling and collection method for AI answers are not published.
  • Market coverage for AI tracking needs confirming, as above.
  • Pricing is by quote only.

We have not tested BrightEdge ourselves; this review is based on its product pages, blog and research, and third-party comparisons.

Who is it for?

  • Good fit: global enterprises already on BrightEdge, especially with large sites that benefit from automated internal linking and schema.
  • Reasonable fit: enterprises choosing a new SEO platform that want AI tracking included.
  • Poor fit: mid-sized teams, and companies whose main need is broad AI visibility tracking without an enterprise SEO suite.

What should you ask BrightEdge?

  1. Is AI Catalyst included in our contract, and what are its limits on prompts, engines and markets?
  2. Which countries and languages are covered for AI tracking?
  3. How often are prompts run, and how are answers collected?
  4. Can mention and citation shares be reported by market and business unit?
  5. Which Site Agents are included, and what changes run without approval?

What might this look like in practice?

Consider an illustrative global appliance maker, Kelmar, already on BrightEdge in eight countries. Its SEO team switched on AI Catalyst for 200 prompts in English, German and French. Mention presence was strong in ChatGPT but citation presence low: answers named Kelmar but cited retailers' pages. AI Hyper Cube showed AI Overviews on most of its maintenance keywords, citing how-to guides from a rival. The team rebuilt its care guides in each language, let Schema Agent maintain product markup, and reported mention and citation shares by country each month.
