Goodie vs Scrunch for Tracking Cited Pages and AI Referral Visits
Scrunch puts cited pages and AI referral visits side by side, page by page. Its Site Maps view shows AI bot visits, citations, AI referrals from GA4 and an audit score for each crawled page. Its AI Referrals tab reports AI sessions, revenue and conversion rate against the rest of the site. Core costs $250 a month, but maps only 25 pages. Goodie goes further toward revenue. It joins GA4 AI referrals with lead and CRM data by content type and prompt category. Core, at $399 a month, includes direct revenue attribution; zero-click revenue modelling is on Enterprise. Choose Scrunch to see which pages earn citations and visits. Choose Goodie to tie them to pipeline. In both, referral numbers are a floor, because many AI visits arrive without a referrer.

What does Scrunch show for each page?
Scrunch's Site Maps view is built for exactly this join. For each page its crawler finds, it shows four numbers: agent traffic, meaning how often AI bots visit; citations, meaning whether AI answers cite the page; AI referrals, meaning human visits from AI platforms through GA4; and an audit score for technical health. You can sort by any of them. Scrunch's own suggestion is to look for pages with high bot traffic but low citations, which AI systems read but do not use.
The AI Referrals tab adds the site-level view: AI sessions, page views, purchase revenue where ecommerce tracking is set up, and the conversion rate of AI sessions against the rest of the site, broken down by AI source. The GA4 connection is read-only, through OAuth, and needs at least read access to the property.
Two limits matter. Core maps only 25 pages, so a large site needs a higher plan. And Site Maps shows citations only for pages in its crawl, while the Citations tab lists every cited URL, so the two counts can differ. If pages are missing, Scrunch's help centre suggests allowing its crawler, Scrunchbot, through CDN and bot protection. More on Scrunch's content tools is in Profound vs Scrunch.
What does Goodie add on revenue?
Goodie's analytics and attribution feature starts from the same Google Analytics referral data, identifying visits from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and other AI platforms. It then segments that traffic by content type, by brand versus competitor keywords and by prompt category, so you can see which kinds of AI interaction send the most valuable visits.
Two revenue figures follow. Attributed revenue traces AI visits through lead generation and CRM systems to closed revenue, by vertical and content theme. Influenced revenue models the zero-click demand that AI answers create but analytics cannot see, broken down by model. The first is measured, and the second is an estimate, so ask Goodie how the model works and report the two separately. Goodie's citation analysis shows which pages and domains engines rely on, for you and competitors. More is in the Goodie review.
Why do cited pages and referral visits need reading together?
Because they tell different stories, and the gaps between them are where the work is. Put each important page into one of four groups:
- Cited and visited: AI answers use the page and people click through. Protect it, and check it stays current.
- Cited but rarely visited: the answer satisfies people in the chat, or the link is shown in a way few people click. Make sure the page's key message, such as your brand and offer, survives in the answer itself.
- Visited by AI bots but not cited: assistants read it but prefer other sources. Look at structure, clarity and whether it answers the question directly.
- Neither: check access first, then whether the page targets questions anyone tracks.
Scrunch shows all three signals for each page in one view. With Goodie, you would combine its citation analysis with its traffic segments and, on Enterprise, its crawler analytics, or export them.
Why are referral numbers a floor?
Because many AI visits reach your site without a referrer. Links opened from some AI apps, or copied from an answer into a browser, arrive as direct traffic. One agency's server-log test found 56 visits from Gemini's iOS app in its logs but only 5 recorded as Gemini referrals in GA4. Clicks from Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode are counted as Google organic search, and GA4's AI Assistant channel excludes them. Both tools rely on analytics data for referrals, so both inherit these gaps. Treat AI referral counts as the minimum, watch branded search and direct traffic to landing pages that AI answers cite, and be cautious with any modelled figure that fills the gap. Methods for finding what people asked before arriving are in how to find the prompts or intent behind ChatGPT referrals, and whether those visitors convert better in whether ChatGPT referrals convert better.
How should you set up either tool?
- Configure GA4 first: conversions, ecommerce revenue where relevant, and clear landing page reporting.
- Connect GA4 with a user who has read access to the property.
- Allow the vendor's crawler in CDN and bot protection, so page-level data is complete.
- Pick the pages that matter: product, pricing, comparison and top guide pages.
- Review monthly by the four groups above, not by totals alone.
Where does each fall short?
- Scrunch: 25-page site map on Core; revenue only where GA4 ecommerce tracking exists; no CRM join described.
- Goodie: influenced revenue is modelled; AI crawler analytics only on Enterprise, and per-page crawler data is not described; export and API sit on higher plans.
- Both: referral data depends on analytics set-up and misses visits without a referrer.
This comparison is drawn from Scrunch's help centre and Goodie's feature and pricing pages; we have not connected analytics to either tool ourselves.
What might this look like in practice?
Consider an illustrative B2B software company, Tallyroom. On Scrunch, its Site Maps view showed its pricing page cited in many answers but sending few AI referrals, while an integrations guide had heavy AI bot traffic and almost no citations. The team rewrote the integrations guide with a direct answer at the top and a comparison table. A sister company on Goodie saw its AI-referred leads concentrated on comparison content, and attributed revenue in its CRM showed those leads closing at a higher value than other AI visits, so it moved budget toward more comparison pages.
What do people ask about Goodie and Scrunch for AI referrals?
Does Scrunch show AI referral visits per page?

Can Goodie connect AI visits to CRM revenue?
Yes. Goodie traces AI traffic through lead generation and CRM systems to attributed revenue.
What is influenced revenue?
Goodie's modelled estimate of revenue from zero-click AI demand that analytics cannot capture directly. Report it separately from measured revenue.
Why do my AI referral numbers look low?
Many AI visits arrive without a referrer and are counted as direct traffic.
