How Do I Measure Hindi AI Search Visibility for My Indian Business?

To measure Hindi AI search visibility, test the questions your customers ask in the three forms Indians commonly use. These are Hindi in Devanagari script, Hindi typed in Roman letters, often mixed with English (Hinglish), and English with Indian context. Run them in the assistants your customers use: Google's AI Mode, which has supported Hindi since 2025, AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. State the city in each question. Record whether your business is named, how it is described, and which sources are cited. Results often differ sharply between the three language forms, and that difference is itself the main finding. Many Indian businesses are visible in English answers but absent in Hindi ones, because their Hindi content, reviews and listings are thin.

Why test three language forms?

Indian users switch between scripts and languages freely:

Form Example Why it matters
Hindi in Devanagari "जयपुर में सबसे अच्छा दांत का डॉक्टर" Answers draw on Hindi-language sources
Romanised Hindi or Hinglish "Jaipur me best dentist kaun hai" Very common in typing and chat; answers may mix sources
English with Indian context "Best dentist in Jaipur for root canal" Answers draw mainly on English sources

Voice questions add a fourth pattern: spoken Hindi converted to text by the assistant. If your customers use voice, test a few questions by speaking them.

Which assistants should you test?

Test the assistants your customers are likely to use. Google's AI Mode added Hindi in 2025, and AI Overviews also appear for Hindi searches. ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity are widely used in India, and several providers have offered free or bundled access there. In 2025, Airtel customers were offered 12 months of Perplexity Pro, and Jio bundled Google's Gemini. That has put AI assistants in the hands of many users who may never have paid for them. For local businesses, also check Google Maps and your Business Profile, which feed Google's AI features.

How do you build and run the question set?

  1. Write 15–25 core questions customers ask about your products or services.
  2. Create the three versions of each: Devanagari Hindi, Romanised Hindi or Hinglish, and English.
  3. Add the city or area your customers are in, since answers are strongly local for services.
  4. Run each version two or three times per assistant, with the location set to that city where possible.
  5. Record businesses named, your position, the description, the sources cited and accuracy notes.
  6. Compare by language form: mention rate in Hindi versus Hinglish versus English.
  7. Repeat monthly.

How should brand-name spellings be handled?

Brand names may be written in English, transliterated into Devanagari, or spelled several ways in Roman letters. Decide on one official Devanagari spelling for your brand and use it consistently in Hindi content and listings, alongside the English name. When recording results, count all variants as mentions of your business. Check that assistants do not confuse you with similarly named businesses in other cities.

What sources do AI answers cite for Indian businesses?

Common sources include:

  • Google Business Profile and Maps, especially for Google's AI features;
  • local directories and marketplaces, such as Justdial for local services, IndiaMART for B2B suppliers, Practo for doctors and Zomato for restaurants;
  • Hindi and English news sites and regional publications;
  • review platforms relevant to the sector;
  • business websites, where they have clear content in the question's language.

Because less Hindi content exists for many business questions, Hindi answers may draw on fewer sources; check how many each language form cites in your own results. That makes a clear Hindi page from your business more likely to be used.

What should you fix if you are missing in Hindi?

  1. Publish key pages in Hindi, not machine-translated word for word: services, prices, locations and common questions. Use hreflang tags to link Hindi and English versions.
  2. Complete your Business Profile with services and a description, and respond to reviews in the customer's language.
  3. Ask every customer for an honest review in their own words, in whichever language they prefer, and never suggest what to write. Reply to each review in the language it was written in.
  4. Keep directory listings accurate on the platforms cited for your category.
  5. Use your official Devanagari brand spelling consistently.
  6. Seek coverage in Hindi media where relevant.

The same approach applies to other Indian languages, such as Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Bengali, if your customers use them. Checking visibility in other assistants is covered in how to measure whether your business appears in Meta AI, which matters in India given WhatsApp's reach.

What do people ask about Hindi AI visibility?

Do AI assistants answer well in Hindi?

The major assistants answer in Hindi, but the sources available in Hindi are thinner, so answers may be less specific.

Should we create separate Hindi pages or translate automatically?

Create proper Hindi pages for your most important content. Automatic translation can produce awkward text that customers and engines may not trust.

Does Hinglish count as Hindi for measurement?

Treat it as its own form. It is very common and its answers often differ from both Devanagari Hindi and English.

How many cities should we test?

Every city where you operate or want customers, since local answers vary by city.
