Sistrix Prompt Research Tool Review

Sistrix's Prompt Research clusters more than 62 million real user questions into about 1.4 million topics. Each topic has an estimated AI search volume, an intent classification, a customer-journey stage and a typical conversation length. It sits beside a Prompt Tracker, which monitors your own prompts daily or weekly in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode by crawling the interfaces, and an AI Check that shows any brand's visibility without setup. Despite Sistrix's Google roots, its AI features are not Google-only. Plans start at €119 a month, and the AI features are currently included at no extra cost while they are in beta. For European SEO teams already using Sistrix, it is an easy and strong addition.

What does Prompt Research do?

Sistrix introduced Prompt Research in August 2026 as keyword research for AI search. Its starting point is that most AI prompts are unique, so analysing them one by one is impractical. Instead, it groups similar prompts into topics, whatever their wording and whatever the platform. According to Sistrix:

  • Data: more than 62 million real user questions, from Google Search and other sources, grouped into more than 1.4 million topics.
  • Per topic: an estimated search volume for AI search, intent, the customer-journey stage, and dialogue length, which indicates how complex the subject is in conversation with an AI.
  • Example: for "Balkonkraftwerk" (a German balcony solar system), it found 117 topics, from panels and installation to inverters, storage, cost-effectiveness and registration.
  • Volume method: estimated from real usage data from AI platforms, distributed to topics using real Google traffic. Sistrix documents the premises and limits of this model in its handbook.

What else is in Sistrix's AI toolkit?

Feature What it does Engines
Prompt Research Topics, AI search volume, intent, journey stage, dialogue length Demand estimated across AI search
Prompt Tracker Tracks your prompts daily or weekly; mentions, source citations, sentiment, competitors, entity context, coverage by platform ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode
AI/Chatbot Research Brand, entity and source visibility on a representative prompt set per country and language ChatGPT, Gemini and DeepSeek foundation models
AI Check A brand or domain's AI visibility, available immediately without a project Existing data

Two collection methods sit behind these. The Prompt Tracker uses automated crawling rather than APIs, so it sees the answers users see, including web search. The AI/Chatbot Research tool queries foundation models, such as gpt-4.1-mini and gemini-2.5-flash, which answer from trained knowledge. Sistrix notes that querying these more often adds no value, because their knowledge is static, while search-enabled products like Perplexity and ChatGPT with web search give more dynamic results. That split is useful: one view shows what models "know", the other what users actually get.

SISTRIX review: Google-only LLM visibility features and €119 monthly pricing

Is it Google-only? No. Sistrix built its reputation on Google data, and Prompt Research draws its questions from Google Search among other sources. But the Prompt Tracker covers ChatGPT and Perplexity as well as Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and the research tool covers ChatGPT, Gemini and DeepSeek models.

What does €119 buy? As listed on Sistrix's pricing page, prices exclude tax:

Plan Price Prompt Tracking updates a month
Start €119/mo 9,300
Plus €239/mo 27,900
Professional €419/mo 55,800
Premium €799/mo 139,500

The AI/Chatbot analysis, AI Check and Prompt Tracking are currently included in all packages while in beta, and Sistrix says it may price them separately in future. Start's 9,300 updates a month equal 100 prompts tracked daily on three platforms, or 75 on all four, over a 31-day month. Plus covers 300 such prompts, Professional 600 and Premium 1,500. For a tool that also includes Sistrix's Visibility Index, keyword data and site audits, that is strong value, as long as the AI features stay included. The Start package cannot add extra users.

How does it compare with other prompt research tools?

  • Semrush Prompt Research draws on a database of more than 317 million prompts built from AI clickstream data and Google keyword data, and estimates topic volumes; it comes with Semrush's $99-a-month AI toolkit.
  • Profound Prompt Volumes uses real conversations from opt-in panels, with keyword-level volumes and audience filters, sold within enterprise contracts.
  • Sistrix Prompt Research uses 62 million-plus questions clustered into topics, with journey stage and dialogue length, included in Sistrix plans.

The first two are compared in Semrush Prompt Research vs Profound Prompt Volumes. Sistrix's distinctive additions are the journey stage and dialogue length, which help decide whether a topic needs a quick answer page or a deeper guide.

What are the limits?

  • Beta status. Features and pricing may change; the AI tools may cost extra later.
  • Estimated volumes. AI search volume is modelled, not measured directly, and depends on Google traffic data to distribute demand.
  • Engine coverage. Tracking covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode; Claude, Copilot and Gemini are not listed for prompt tracking.
  • European focus. Sistrix is strongest in European markets; check coverage for your countries and languages.

Who is it for?

  • Good fit: SEO teams, especially in Europe, already using Sistrix, who want AI demand research and tracking without another subscription.
  • Reasonable fit: content strategists who need topic-level AI demand and journey stage to plan content.
  • Poor fit: teams needing tracking across many AI engines, or enterprise features such as fact checking and content agents.

How should you use Prompt Research?

  1. Enter a core product or category keyword, and review the topics returned.
  2. Sort by estimated AI search volume and filter by journey stage.
  3. Check dialogue length: short dialogues suit concise answer pages; long ones suit detailed guides or tools.
  4. Map topics to pages you have, and list the gaps.
  5. Turn top topics into prompts in the Prompt Tracker, and track mentions and sources over time.

How to estimate prompt demand from keyword data generally is covered in how to use keyword research and topic volume to estimate AI prompt demand, and whether tools track fixed or generated prompts in whether AI visibility tools monitor fixed prompts or generate them.

What might this look like in practice?

Consider an illustrative German e-bike retailer, Trellstead. Prompt Research returned 90 topics for its main category. High-volume topics in the research stage, such as range for commuting and battery care, had long dialogue lengths, suggesting detailed guides. Purchase-stage topics about financing and servicing had short dialogues. Trellstead wrote two in-depth guides and three short answer pages, then tracked 60 prompts daily on its Start plan. After two months, ChatGPT and Perplexity cited its battery-care guide in answers the tracker had previously shown going to a competitor.
