Sitechecker Review: Monitoring LLM Mentions and Citation Frequency
Sitechecker is an SEO platform for agencies that now tracks AI visibility in three ways. Daily prompt runs count how often ChatGPT, Gemini and other models mention or cite you. Google AI Overview tracking shows, for your keywords, whether you are cited and in what position. GA4 data shows AI referral traffic and conversions. Plans run from $99 a month to $449 for 50 sites and 250 prompts, all with unlimited users. Prompts are generated from your top search keywords, which ties AI tracking to known demand. It suits agencies that want AI data inside the SEO reports they already send. It is lighter than dedicated trackers on answer analysis and engine coverage at entry.
What does Sitechecker track?
As described on its AI visibility pages:
- AI brand monitor: prompts generated from your highest-volume search keywords, run in ChatGPT, Gemini and other models. It reports mentions, citations, citation position and a visibility score, with competitors side by side.
- Google AI Overviews: how many of your traffic-driving keywords trigger an Overview, whether you are cited, your citation position, the other sources and snippets cited, and trends by URL, country, device and language.
- AI traffic from GA4: sessions from ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Claude and DeepSeek, compared with total and organic traffic, with engagement, key events and landing pages.
- AI Visibility Audit: a one-off check of any brand across a representative prompt set, useful for pitching prospects.
Its plans list five AI models: ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode, Perplexity and Copilot. Perplexity tracking sits on Standard and above.
How does it measure citation frequency?
Each tracked prompt runs once a day, so a 28-day window gives 28 readings per prompt. Sitechecker reports two separate measures:
- Visibility, the share of daily runs in which the model names your brand.
- Citation share, your share of all the sites the model links to across your prompts, with competitors alongside.
You can open any prompt to read the latest full answer, with your domain and competitors' highlighted, and see every source cited. Keeping mentions and citations apart matters, because a brand can be named often but rarely linked, or linked as a source without being recommended. The difference is explained in why measure brand mention rate separately from citation rate.
Daily readings smooth out the run-to-run variation in AI answers better than weekly checks, as long as you judge trends over the whole window rather than day to day.
What does it cost?
As listed on Sitechecker's plans page:
| Plan | Monthly | Billed annually | Websites | AI prompts | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Basic | $99 | $83/mo | Limited | Small allowance | For consultants; no Perplexity |
| Standard | $249 | $208/mo | More | Larger allowance | Adds Perplexity tracking |
| Premium | $449 | $375/mo | 50 | 250 | Unlimited AI audits, white-label app and emails |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Unlimited | Unlimited | Training, success manager, custom exports |
The plans page does not display the Basic and Standard prompt counts in a readable form, so confirm them before buying. Some third-party sites list older, lower prices. All plans include unlimited users, an API and Looker Studio integration. There is a free trial and a 48-hour money-back guarantee. If you cancel, Sitechecker deletes your data after seven days; pausing keeps it for two years.
At Premium, 250 prompts run daily on two models would produce about 15,000 answers a month, roughly 3 cents each at the monthly price or 2.5 cents billed annually, before counting the SEO platform included in the price.
How should you use AI Overview citation positions?
An AI Overview can cite several sources, and the order matters: the first few links are shown before a reader expands the panel. Sitechecker records your position among the cited sources for each keyword, alongside your organic rank. Three patterns are worth acting on:
- Ranked well, not cited. The page ranks in the top few results but the Overview cites others. Check whether your page answers the question plainly near the top, and compare it with the pages that are cited.
- Cited low in the list. You are a source but hidden below the fold of the panel. Tighter, more specific answers to the exact question often help.
- Cited without ranking. Overviews sometimes cite pages outside the top ten. These show what Google's AI values on your site, and are good models for other pages.
Note that Search Console counts an AI Overview as a single position, so its average position will not match a tool's citation position. Compare trends in each, not the numbers against each other.
What is it good for?
- Agencies. Unlimited users, many sites, white-label reporting and a branded app on Premium suit client work. The AI Visibility Audit gives a quick pitch asset.
- Linking AI visibility to outcomes. GA4 conversions by AI source and landing page show whether AI visibility brings business, which many trackers leave out.
- AI Overviews in SEO context. Seeing Overview citations beside organic rankings for the same keywords shows where AI Overviews take clicks.
- Prompts tied to demand. Generating prompts from real search keywords avoids tracking questions nobody asks.
Where does it fall short?
- Keyword-based prompts. People phrase questions to assistants differently from search queries. Add conversational prompts by hand for comparisons and recommendations.
- Engines by plan. Basic users do not get Perplexity, and Claude is tracked only in traffic data, not answers.
- Limited answer analysis. Dedicated trackers offer more on sentiment, narratives and why competitors win.
- Opaque prompt allowances on lower plans.
We have not tested Sitechecker ourselves; this review is based on its published pages.
How does it compare?
Sitechecker is closest to SEO platforms that have added AI modules, such as Nightwatch, which compares organic rankings with LLM citations, and SE Ranking's tracker. Against dedicated trackers such as Goodie, it offers less answer analysis but more SEO and traffic context.
How should you trial it?
- Connect Search Console and GA4 for one client, and check that AI referral sessions match what you see in GA4.
- Review the generated prompts, remove any that no buyer would ask, and add five comparison questions.
- Watch a full week of daily runs before judging visibility.
- Open five answers and compare them with what you see in the same assistant.
- Run an AI Visibility Audit on a prospect to judge its value for pitching.
What might this look like in practice?
Consider an illustrative agency, Zellnell Search, managing 30 local and ecommerce clients. It moved them onto Sitechecker Premium, keeping rank tracking and site audits in one place. For a garden furniture client, AI Overview tracking showed the brand cited on 40 of 200 tracked keywords, while GA4 showed ChatGPT visitors converting at twice the site average. The agency added comparison prompts by hand, since the keyword-based set missed questions such as which outdoor sofa lasts longest, and reported mentions and citations separately each month.
