WebFX GEO Services Review: What Does the Agency Offer?

WebFX sells generative engine optimisation (GEO) as a managed service, starting at $3,000 a month. The service runs on WebFX's own AI visibility platform, OmniSEO. Engagements start with a GEO audit and an SEO audit. The ongoing work then combines content, technical fixes, and building links and mentions on other sites. Each month you get a report on visibility across Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot, Meta AI and other engines. WebFX is a large agency, with more than 750 staff. It suits mid-sized businesses that want to outsource AI search work and already accept that GEO builds on ordinary SEO. The main things to check are what the monthly fee buys in hours and output, and how results will be measured.

What does the service include?

According to WebFX's service pages:

  1. GEO audit: how AI models understand your brand and interpret your content, which sources AI engines cite, your visibility across AI platforms, traffic risks from AI search features, and which of your target keywords show AI features.
  2. SEO audit: on-page, off-page and technical SEO, and content quality, on the basis that AI platforms often draw on well-optimised, authoritative sites.
  3. Strategy: priorities based on high-value queries, audience behaviour, business goals, AI visibility gaps and current SEO performance.
  4. Ongoing optimisation: content that explains what you do and why you are credible, content tuned so assistants can pull accurate facts, backlinks, page speed and user experience work, and visual assets.
  5. Tracking and reporting: OmniSEO dashboards showing visibility across AI platforms, brand mentions, tracked prompts, competitive share and the work completed, with monthly priorities from your account team.

For enterprises, WebFX describes a four-part framework: strengthen technical foundations, build authoritative content, amplify off-site signals such as citations, reviews and mentions, and measure share of voice in AI search.

Which AI platforms does it cover?

WebFX lists Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Copilot and Meta AI across Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, with Gemini and Claude named on its enterprise pages. OmniSEO tracks ten or more platforms on its higher tiers. Meta AI coverage is less common among agencies and may matter for consumer brands whose customers use WhatsApp and Instagram.

What does it cost?

WebFX says its AI search optimisation services start at $3,000 a month, with custom quotes. Its enterprise pages say enterprise GEO services generally cost upwards of $20,000 a month. OmniSEO can also be bought on its own, from $89 a month for four AI platforms and 50 prompts, which is a useful way to see WebFX's data before hiring the agency. Tracking-tool options are compared in Profound vs Scrunch, which includes OmniSEO.

What do its results claims mean?

WebFX reports more than 12,335 leads generated for clients across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and other AI platforms, and a case study of a multi-location equipment dealer with a 500% increase in leads from AI platforms. These are agency-reported figures. A 500% rise from a small starting point can be a modest absolute number, and AI referral tracking undercounts visits that arrive without a referrer. Ask for the baseline, the time period, how leads were attributed to AI, and whether other marketing changed at the same time. How to judge claims like these is covered in whether GEO works or is a waste of money.

What are its strengths?

  • Scale and breadth: a large team covering SEO, content, links, design and development, so AI search work does not wait on another vendor.
  • Own tracking platform: OmniSEO data sits behind strategy and reporting, and you can see it before and after hiring.
  • Realistic framing: WebFX treats GEO as built on SEO foundations, which matches how Google describes its own AI features.
  • Wide platform list, including Meta AI.

What are the limits?

  • Minimum spend: $3,000 a month is a significant commitment for a small business.
  • Deliverables per month are not published; ask for a written scope.
  • Off-site work: earning mentions and reviews is slow and partly outside any agency's control; ask how it is done and disclosed.
  • Attribution: AI-driven leads are hard to measure precisely; agree methods in advance.

How should you measure an agency's GEO work?

Agree the measures before work starts, and keep them separate so no single number hides the others:

  • AI visibility: mention rate and citation rate on a fixed set of prompts, by engine, from OmniSEO or an independent tracker you control.
  • Google AI features: impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode from Search Console's generative AI report.
  • Traffic and leads: AI referral sessions and conversions in your own analytics, plus calls or forms tagged by source.
  • Work delivered: pages created or improved, fixes shipped and mentions earned each month.

Review quarterly rather than monthly, since AI answers vary from week to week, and ask the agency to keep a few comparable pages unchanged as a control so improvements can be credited fairly. The wider measurement question is covered in how to measure success in GEO compared with SEO.

Who is it for?

  • Good fit: mid-sized businesses without in-house SEO capacity that want a single agency for SEO and AI search.
  • Reasonable fit: multi-location brands and enterprises wanting a managed programme with executive reporting.
  • Poor fit: small businesses with budgets under $3,000 a month, and teams with strong in-house SEO that only need tools.

Whether to hire at all is discussed in whether to do GEO yourself, hire a freelancer or hire an agency.

What should you ask before signing?

  1. What exactly is delivered each month: pages written or updated, technical fixes, links or mentions, and hours?
  2. Which prompts and engines will be tracked, and who chooses the prompts?
  3. How will success be measured, with which baseline and over what period?
  4. How are off-site mentions earned, and are they always disclosed and genuine?
  5. What is the minimum term and notice period?
  6. Who owns the content and data if you leave?

A checklist of what a package should contain is in what a GEO services package should include.

What might this look like in practice?

Consider an illustrative regional HVAC company, Coldstream Heating, spending $3,500 a month with a GEO agency. The audit found its service pages thin and its reviews concentrated on one site, while ChatGPT and AI Overviews cited two rivals featured in a local home services guide. Over six months, the agency rewrote twelve service pages with prices and service areas, fixed slow page templates, and helped Coldstream earn a listing in the guide and more reviews on a second platform. OmniSEO showed its mention rate rising on repair-related prompts, and the company tracked calls from AI referrals separately in its call tracking system.
