Yoast AI Brand Insights Review: Features, Tracking, and Annual Cost

Yoast AI Brand Insights checks five brand questions each week in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Claude. It reports mentions, sentiment, citations and competitor rank, combined into a single AI Visibility Index. It comes only with Yoast SEO AI+, at $358.80 a year excluding VAT. That price also includes Yoast SEO Premium and Yoast WooCommerce SEO. So it is good value if you already need those plugins, and expensive as a tracker on its own. Five questions a week is a small sample, enough for a pulse check but not for serious measurement. Yoast's other AI features, schema aggregation and llms.txt, are sensible housekeeping, but there is little evidence that either changes AI answers.

What does AI Brand Insights track?

As described on Yoast's product and help pages:

  • AI Visibility Index: a score out of 100 blending mentions, ranking, citations and sentiment, with the change since the last analysis.
  • AI mentions: whether each of your five questions produced a mention, marked found or not found.
  • Citations: the sources AI platforms cited when mentioning you, with root domain, category, impact level and how many questions referenced each.
  • Competitor ranking: your position among competitors on the same questions, shown as mentions out of five.
  • Sentiment: the share of positive mentions, with example positive and negative keywords, and a competitor comparison.
  • Trends over time, and a PDF report.

Setup is browser-based through your MyYoast account and needs no access to your website. Yoast builds a brand profile from your site, suggests five questions, which you can edit, and runs the analysis in about five minutes. After that, scans run weekly and you get an email when each is ready. Tracking another brand requires another subscription.

What does it cost?

AI Brand Insights is sold only within Yoast SEO AI+, at $358.80 a year excluding VAT, about $30 a month. The package includes:

  • AI Brand Insights, as above.
  • Yoast SEO Premium: internal linking suggestions, AI-generated titles and descriptions, AI summaries and optimisation suggestions, social previews, plus the News, Video and Local SEO add-ons.
  • Yoast WooCommerce SEO: product schema, ecommerce sitemaps, product content checks and AI titles and descriptions for product catalogs.

Measured as a tracker alone, it is costly. Five questions on four platforms each week produce about 1,040 answers a year, roughly 35 cents per answer. Otterly's entry plan, by comparison, tracks 15 prompts daily for $29 a month. The value case rests on needing the plugins anyway.

Yoast SEO AI features review: are they enough for advanced SEO and GEO?

For small WordPress and WooCommerce sites, they cover the basics in one place:

Feature Available in What it does
Schema aggregation All versions, including free Exposes your whole schema graph at one endpoint
llms.txt All versions, including Shopify Generates and refreshes an llms.txt file
AI Generate, Optimize, Summarize Premium and above Titles and descriptions, SEO suggestions, key takeaways
Bot blocker Premium and above Controls on crawler access
Content Planner Premium and above Finds gaps in existing content and turns the next topic into a structured draft
AI Bulk Editor Manual only in free; full in Premium and above Edits titles and descriptions in bulk
AI Generate and Bulk Editor for product catalogs WooCommerce SEO and AI+ AI titles and descriptions across product catalogs
AI Brand Insights AI+ only Weekly brand tracking in four AI platforms

For advanced SEO and GEO, they fall short. Five weekly questions cannot show trends across a category, and the tracker does not cover Google's AI Overviews or AI Mode, which appear in a large share of searches. There is no prompt research, crawler log analysis or link to AI referral traffic. Teams doing serious GEO work will need a dedicated tracker and their own analytics alongside Yoast.

Yoast review: schema aggregation, Speakable support, and llms.txt limitations

Schema aggregation is an opt-in feature in every version of Yoast SEO. It combines the structured data Yoast already generates, such as Article, Product, Person, Organization, WebPage and WebSite, into one deduplicated feed at a dedicated endpoint, instead of an AI system having to crawl page by page. Yoast links it to NLWeb, Microsoft's open project for building conversational interfaces over site data. It respects your indexing settings and shares only public, indexable content. The limitation: Yoast does not say which AI assistants read the endpoint today, and there is no public evidence that it changes answers. It is low effort and low risk, so switching it on is reasonable.

Speakable appears in Yoast's schema specification as an optional property on WebPage and Article pieces, used when content is marked as suitable for spoken results. Yoast's feature pages describe no setting for it, so check your page source to see whether it is output. Google still lists Speakable as a beta feature for English-language news content on Google Assistant devices. It is not a signal for AI answers, as covered in whether Speakable schema helps content get cited by LLMs.

llms.txt is generated with one click in every version, including Shopify, and refreshes automatically. You can let Yoast pick key content or choose it yourself. The limitation is adoption: Google says its Search features do not use llms.txt, and major AI assistants have not confirmed that they read it. Yoast's own wording is careful, describing the file as an offer to guide AI tools. More is in whether llms.txt improves AI search visibility.

Who is it for?

  • Good fit: WordPress or WooCommerce businesses that already pay, or would pay, for Yoast Premium and WooCommerce SEO, and want a simple weekly AI check.
  • Reasonable fit: small agencies checking a few client brands, accepting that each brand needs its own subscription and that five questions per brand is a narrow view.
  • Poor fit: teams that need many prompts, daily data, Google's AI features or agency reporting across many brands.

How should you use five questions well?

Five questions is a small allowance, so choose them carefully:

  1. One category question buyers ask before they know brands, such as the best option for their need.
  2. One comparison with your main competitor.
  3. One problem question your product solves.
  4. One question about price or value.
  5. One question about your brand by name, to check how you are described.

Keep them fixed for at least three months so the index reflects AI answers, not changes in your questions. Check a few answers by hand each month, since weekly scans on five questions will swing. For more questions at a similar price, see the OtterlyAI review.

What might this look like in practice?

Consider an illustrative WooCommerce shop selling specialty tea, Elskquay, already paying for Yoast Premium and WooCommerce SEO. Upgrading to AI+ brought an AI tracker into the plugin package it already used. Brand Insights showed Elskquay mentioned for two of five questions in Perplexity and Claude but none in ChatGPT, where competitors' "best loose-leaf tea" roundups were cited. The owner pitched two roundup writers and added a brewing guide. Over three months, ChatGPT began mentioning the shop for one question, and the owner kept the tracker as a cheap weekly signal.
