AIclicks vs Profound: Is AIclicks a Cheaper Alternative?

For brands, yes, by a wide margin. AIclicks publishes self-serve plans from $59 a month for 30 prompts on three AI platforms, up to $499 for 300 prompts on six. Profound removed its self-serve brand plans in September 2026. It now sells brand tracking through custom Enterprise contracts, after a 7-day trial. For agencies the gap narrows, because Profound charges $99 a month plus $399 per client workspace. Both capture answers from live interfaces rather than developer APIs, and both draft content from what they find. Profound's Enterprise contracts can cover up to nine engines, but its trial and its agency client workspaces cover three; it adds prompt volume research and fact checking. AIclicks is the better value for most small and mid-sized teams.

What does each cost per answer?

AIclicks states its monthly response allowance, so the maths is simple:

AIclicks plan Price Responses a month Per response
Starter $59 4,650 About 1.3 cents
Pro $189 18,600 About 1.0 cent
Business $499 55,800 About 0.9 cents

Profound does not publish enterprise prices or response counts, so a per-answer figure is only possible once you have a quote. Ask for the number of answers the contract collects a month and divide. Its agency plan is listed, though, which allows a fair comparison for agencies.

How do the prices compare for an agency?

Take an agency with five clients:

  • Profound: $99 + 5 × $399 = $2,094 a month. Each workspace includes 100 prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews, plus 400 AI Marketer credits a month, so five clients get 500 prompts on three engines.
  • AIclicks Business: $499 a month for 300 prompts on six platforms, or 60 prompts per client, with unlimited websites.
  • AIclicks Pro: $189 a month for 150 prompts on four platforms, or 30 per client.

On tracking alone, AIclicks costs about a quarter of Profound for five clients. Profound's price includes more content-generation capacity and research data, so the fair comparison depends on how much of that the agency would use.

What do you give up with AIclicks?

  • Engine breadth on lower plans. Starter tracks three platforms and Pro four. Six needs Business.
  • Research data. Profound's prompt volumes estimate what consumers ask; AIclicks relies on the prompts you choose.
  • Fact checking. Profound's FactCheck lists inaccurate claims about your brand and their sources.
  • Single daily sample. AIclicks runs one check per prompt, per platform, per day. That is common in this price band, but trends need a few weeks to settle.

What do you give up with Profound?

  • Price transparency for brands: no public enterprise pricing.
  • Custom prompts in the trial: the brand trial uses recommended prompts that cannot be customised, so you cannot test your own buyer questions before buying.
  • A low entry point: small brands now have no self-serve route.

Is the data comparable?

More than with many tools, because both query the live interfaces people use rather than developer APIs. AIclicks notes that API calls skip the retrieval layer and return no citations, which is why interface capture matters for source tracking. Differences will still come from prompts, engines, locations and timing. If you trial both, use the same ten prompts on the platforms both cover, and compare mention rates over several days rather than single answers.

What does each do with the data?

AIclicks groups every prompt into a topic, so visibility reads by product area rather than as one blended score. Open any prompt and you see the full answer and every URL it cited. It also records fan-out sub-queries, the searches an engine runs behind the scenes to build its answer, which show what your pages need to cover to be retrieved. Its GA4 connection maps referral sessions to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini and Copilot, so visibility and visits sit side by side. A built-in assistant answers questions about the dashboard data.

Profound is built around action at scale. Its AI Marketer spots prompts where you are missing, drafts the page, guide, social posts or ads, and asks for approval. Prompt volumes show which topics consumers ask about most, which helps prioritise. FactCheck and citation authority help PR and legal teams see where inaccurate claims come from.

In short, AIclicks gives a lean team what it needs to find and fix gaps itself. Profound suits teams that want the platform to produce much of the work.

Who should choose which?

  • AIclicks: small and mid-sized brands, and agencies with several clients on a modest budget.
  • Profound: large brands with enterprise budgets, heavy content programmes, and a need for fact checking and prompt research.
  • Both: agencies that serve one or two enterprise clients alongside many smaller ones.

How should you decide?

  1. Start with the engines your buyers use. If three or four cover them, AIclicks Starter or Pro is enough.
  2. Decide whether you need content help at scale. Both draft content; Profound's AI Marketer is built for larger programmes.
  3. For brands, get a Profound quote only if your budget reaches enterprise levels, and compare it per answer.
  4. For agencies, price your client count on both, as above.
  5. Trial AIclicks with your own prompts, and use Profound's trial to judge its interface and depth.

What might an agency's choice look like?

Consider an illustrative four-person agency, Kestrel & Vale, with five retainer clients and a budget of $600 a month for AI tracking. Profound's agency plan would have cost $2,094. It chose AIclicks Business, giving each client 60 prompts on the six platforms its clients' buyers used. It used the included articles as first drafts for gaps, and rewrote them in each client's voice. When one enterprise client asked for fact-checking and prompt volume research, the agency priced a single Profound workspace for that client alone.
