RankPrompt Review: Tracking AI Visibility Across Major AI Models
RankPrompt is a credit-based AI visibility tool. One credit runs one prompt across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Mode together. Gemini, Grok and other premium engines cost one extra credit each per prompt. Plans run from $49 a month for 150 credits to $299 for 2,000, and they allow many brands per plan. It also includes content drafting, SEO audits, an API and an MCP server. Your first full report is free, with no card. Because credits are spent per run, it suits weekly or monthly scans of many prompts rather than daily tracking. For daily checks of a small prompt set, tools priced by prompts per day often give more answers for the money.
What does RankPrompt do?
- AI visibility reports: whether your brand is mentioned for your prompts across the engines you choose, with competitors alongside.
- Citations: which sources the answers cite.
- Content Studio: AI-drafted articles aimed at the questions you are missing from.
- SEO audit: Core Web Vitals, schema and technical checks. RankPrompt says technical checks do not use credits.
- AI agent and AI SEO tasks: a prioritised list of visibility fixes.
- Outreach: Gmail outreach and multi-step email campaigns from the Pro plan.
- Developer access: a REST API, an MCP server for tools such as Claude Code and Cursor, and a WordPress integration.
- Agency features: white-label reports from the Agency plan, and a client-facing app on your own domain on Agency Plus.
How much does it cost?

| Free | $0 | — | 10, one report | 3 | Owner |
| Starter | $49 | $39/mo ($470 a year) | 150 | 10 | Owner only |

Paid plans include a seven-day trial with 50 credits. A card is required to start the trial, but you are not charged until it ends. Credits reset monthly and do not roll over, and you can top up without changing plan. Enterprise pricing is available for larger volumes.
How do the credits work out?
RankPrompt lists these credit costs:
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| One prompt across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Google AI Mode | 1 |
| Each additional premium engine, such as Gemini or Grok, per prompt | +1 |
| AI-generated article | 10 |
| Brand audit | 10, plus 1 per cited page analysed |
| Page speed or competitor audit | 1 |
| Prospect search | 5 |
Scheduling a scan is free; each run draws credits. So a plan's credits translate into runs, not days:
- Starter's 150 credits can cover 150 prompts once a month, about 34 prompts weekly, or 5 prompts daily, on the four standard engines.
- Pro's 500 credits can cover about 115 prompts weekly, or 16 daily.
- Adding Gemini doubles the credit cost per prompt run.
Compare that with a tracker priced by prompts checked daily. Otterly's $29 Lite plan checks 15 prompts daily on four engines, which is 1,800 answers a month. RankPrompt's $49 Starter, spent on the four standard engines, yields 150 runs and 600 answers. RankPrompt gives more flexibility, with more prompts, more brands and weekly scans, while daily trackers give more samples of fewer prompts. Choose by which you need.
When is RankPrompt a good fit?
- Monthly or weekly monitoring of many prompts, such as a quarterly visibility review across a broad topic set.
- Many brands or locations. Even Starter allows ten brands, which suits consultants and small agencies with several clients.
- Claude coverage without an add-on, since Claude is part of the standard one-credit bundle.
- Developers and technical marketers who want API and MCP access to run reports from their own tools.
It is a weaker fit for teams that want daily tracking of a stable prompt set for trend reporting, or that need statistical confidence from many runs of each prompt. The credit budget runs out quickly at daily frequency.
How useful are the content and outreach features?
Articles cost 10 credits each, so Starter's whole allowance equals 15 articles and no tracking. Most teams will want to spend credits on measurement and use the drafting sparingly. As with any AI drafting tool, articles need editing and something new added, such as data, first-hand detail or current prices. Large volumes of lightly edited AI text risk breaching Google's policy on scaled content abuse. Outreach tools help with the mechanics of contacting sites that assistants cite. Personalise every email, and disclose any payment or free product offered in exchange for coverage.
How does it compare with manual tracking?
RankPrompt automates what you can do by hand: asking a set of questions in several assistants and recording mentions and sources. Its credit model makes it cheap to run a large set occasionally. If you run fewer than 20 prompts once a month, manual tracking may be enough, as described in how to manually track AI visibility by testing prompts across AI engines. Tools with other pricing models are assessed in the AthenaHQ review and the SE Ranking AI visibility tracker review.
What are the limits?
- Few runs per prompt. On lower plans, most prompts will be run weekly or monthly. Answers vary between runs, so a single monthly run is a weak basis for claiming a change.
- Credits are shared. Tracking, articles, audits and prospect searches all draw on the same allowance, so heavy use of one squeezes the others.
- Engine bundles. The four standard engines come together. You cannot save credits by tracking only ChatGPT, and adding Gemini or Grok doubles or triples the cost of each run.
- Card for the trial. Unlike the free report, the paid trial needs a card, so set a reminder before it ends.
What might a month look like?
Consider an illustrative marketing consultant with six small clients on the Pro plan. Each client would need 20 prompts run weekly on the four standard engines, but 6 × 20 prompts × about 4.3 weekly runs is about 520 credits a month, just over Pro's 500. So the consultant runs 18 prompts per client, about 470 credits, and keeps the remaining 30 credits for two articles, or for a page speed audit when a client launches a new page. Each month the consultant sends clients a report showing mentions, the sources cited, and one recommended action. When a client wanted Gemini added, the consultant moved that client to fortnightly runs to stay within the credit budget, rather than upgrading the plan.
How should you test it?
- Use the free report first on your own prompts across ChatGPT, AI Mode and Claude.
- Run the same prompts yourself in those engines and compare the brands and sources.
- Estimate your monthly credits: prompts × runs a month × credits per prompt, plus any articles and audits.
- Start the seven-day trial only when you have a prompt set ready, since it includes 50 credits.
- Check exports and API output if you plan to report from your own tools.
