WebCEO Review: Does It Track AI Prompts?

WebCEO does not track AI prompts in the sense most AI visibility tools mean. It is a long-running SEO platform for agencies. It tracks Google keywords on desktop, mobile and AI Mode, and shows which keywords trigger AI Overviews and whether your site is cited in them. It also audits whether pages are crawlable and structured for machine reading. It does not document tracking conversational prompts in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude or Gemini. Plans start at $36 a month, and a white-label agency plan starts at $99 plus usage fees, with a free trial that needs no card. Use it for Google's AI features within an SEO workflow, and pair it with a prompt tracker if other assistants matter to your clients.

What does WebCEO cover for AI search?

  • AI Overviews by keyword: which tracked keywords trigger an AI Overview, and whether your site is cited as a source, according to an independent review.
  • AI Mode tracking as a separate view in rank tracking, alongside desktop and mobile.
  • Competitor comparison across your keyword set, including AI features.
  • AI search readiness: WebCEO says its audits check key AI signals, and whether your site is clean, crawlable and structured for machine understanding, with clear content hierarchies.

Everything else is classic SEO: keyword research, site audits, backlink analysis, landing page checks, Google Business Profile and social data, and white-label reporting.

Does it track AI prompts?

Only Google-shaped ones. WebCEO's AI Mode and AI Overviews tracking works from keywords you add to rank tracking. You can add long, question-like keywords, and they will be run through Google's AI surfaces. That covers a big share of AI search exposure for most businesses, because AI Overviews appear on so many Google searches.

What it does not do, on the evidence of its own site and independent reviews, is send prompts to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini or Copilot and record the answers. Those assistants are where dedicated trackers add value, especially for B2B and research-heavy purchases. How trackers differ in handling prompts is covered in whether AI visibility tools monitor fixed prompts or generate them.

Is Google-only AI tracking enough?

For many businesses, it covers most of the exposure. AI Overviews now appear on a large share of searches. BrightEdge reported them on about 48% of the queries it tracked in February 2026, up from about 31% a year earlier. Semrush's 2025 data showed AI Overviews spreading from informational into commercial and transactional searches. Google has also said AI Mode has more than a billion monthly users.

But Google is not the whole picture. Many buyers, especially in software and professional services, research in ChatGPT, Perplexity or Claude before searching. Those assistants cite different sources from Google and describe brands in their own words. A client that looks strong in AI Overviews can be absent from ChatGPT's answers to the same question. So Google-only tracking is enough for local and consumer businesses that mainly win customers through Google. It is not enough where research happens in assistants.

How much does it cost?

As listed on WebCEO's pricing page:

Plan Monthly Annual Limits
Solo $36/mo (minimum three months) $32/mo 1 project, 1 user, 100 keywords
Startup $119/mo $99/mo 5 projects, 5 teammates, 750 keywords
Corporate Higher fixed tier Discounted More projects and extra users at no cost
Agency Unlimited $99/mo base $83/mo base Unlimited projects and teammates, plus usage fees

On Agency Unlimited, costs vary with use. Rank queries cost $4 per 1,000. White-label hosting on your own domain adds $40 a month, and extra users cost $5 a month each. Startup and Corporate are fixed-price. The trial needs no credit card.

For AI Mode and AI Overviews tracking, the rank query fee is the thing to model. WebCEO counts a rank query as keyword × location × device × results pages scanned × scans per month. For example, 500 keywords in one location, checked daily on desktop, mobile and AI Mode, scanning one results page, is 500 × 3 × 30 = 45,000 rank queries a month. At $4 per 1,000, that is $180 on top of the base fee; scanning five pages deep would make it five times that. Weekly checks would cut that to about $26.

How should an agency use it for AI visibility?

  1. Add question-style keywords to rank tracking for each client, such as "how much does a loft conversion cost" alongside "loft conversion cost".
  2. Turn on AI Mode tracking for those keywords, and watch AI Overview citations.
  3. Tag keywords by topic, so reports show which subjects Google's AI features cite the client for.
  4. Run the AI readiness audit on key pages, and fix crawl and structure problems first.
  5. Add a prompt tracker for ChatGPT and Perplexity if the client's buyers use them, and report both side by side.
  6. Report citations, not only positions, since an AI Overview citation can matter more than an organic rank below it.

Choosing which questions to track is covered in how to choose the right prompts to track for AI visibility. How AI Mode trackers work, and where they fall short, is covered in how AI Mode tracking tools work.

What are its strengths and weaknesses?

Strengths:

  • Agency economics: unlimited projects and teammates, white-label hosting and pay-per-use rank queries.
  • Google AI coverage within rank tracking, with desktop, mobile and AI Mode views.
  • Broad SEO toolkit in one subscription.

Weaknesses:

  • No multi-assistant prompt tracking. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini are not covered.
  • A dense interface, which one independent review described as dated.
  • Lighter keyword research than the largest SEO suites.
  • Variable costs on the agency plan if tracking frequency is high.

Who is it for?

  • Good fit: agencies that want white-label SEO reporting with Google AI Overviews and AI Mode data included, at predictable base cost.
  • Reasonable fit: in-house teams whose customers mainly search on Google.
  • Poor fit: anyone who needs to know what ChatGPT, Perplexity or Claude say about a brand.

What might an agency setup look like?

Consider an illustrative agency with 20 local service clients. It moved rank tracking to WebCEO's Agency Unlimited plan, with 150 keywords per client, checked weekly on mobile and AI Mode. That is 20 × 150 × 2 × about 4.3 weeks, roughly 25,800 rank queries a month, or about $103 in query fees. Its reports showed each client which service questions triggered AI Overviews and whether the client was cited. For two clients selling to businesses, it added a separate prompt tracker for ChatGPT and Perplexity, because their buyers researched there before calling. Reporting both kept the client conversation grounded in where each audience actually searched.

What do people ask about WebCEO?

Does WebCEO track ChatGPT?

Not according to its site or independent reviews. It tracks Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode through keywords.

Is there a free trial?

Yes, and it does not require a credit card.

Can I white-label it?

Yes. The agency plan can run on your own domain for an extra $40 a month.

Should I switch from a larger SEO suite?

Only if its agency pricing and white-label features matter more to you than deeper keyword and backlink data.

Can I track full questions as keywords?

Yes. Rank tracking accepts long, question-style keywords, and those are the ones most likely to trigger AI Overviews and AI Mode answers. Keep the wording close to how customers phrase questions, and group variants under one tag.
