What does Whitespark cover?

Whitespark sells each tool separately. Its Local Rank Tracker, at $14 to $200 a month, tracks local pack, Maps and organic rankings on Google and Bing, separately and on desktop and mobile. Local Ranking Grids, from $10 a month, show rankings across up to 225 points around a location. Local Citation Finder, at $33 to $149 a month, finds and monitors listings. Reputation Builder, at $79 a month per location, requests and manages reviews. Local Platform manages Google Business Profiles at $1 per location a month. Services run from one-time listing packages to done-for-you local SEO at $499 to $1,999 a month.

Whitespark's product pages do not list a tool that tracks AI answers. Its research is where it earns a place in AI visibility work. Its 2026 Local Search Ranking Factors survey asked 47 experts to score 187 factors, and for the first time added a score for impact on AI search. Its May 2025 study of AI Overviews in local search found them on 15% of searches with direct local intent, compared with local packs on 93%.

What does AEO Engine cover?

AEO Engine is a service, not software you run. Its Growth plan, at $1,597 a month, covers one site. It includes 30 articles a month, 3 to 5 backlinks, a PR campaign each quarter, brand mentions on community and social sites, and AI visibility tracking for up to 150 prompts. Scale, at $2,997, doubles the content and tracks up to 300 prompts. Enterprise starts at $10,000 a month. It tracks ChatGPT, Google's AI features, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Claude, and offers qualified clients a guarantee of 30% more organic and AI traffic in 90 days, or free management until reached.

For a local business, weigh three things. It is priced for brands with content to scale, not for a single shop. Thirty articles a month is more than most local sites can keep accurate. And planted brand mentions in communities can break platform rules and look inauthentic, so ask exactly how they are placed.

What does Semrush cover for local and AI?

Semrush Local Base, at $30 a month per location billed annually, includes a GBP AI Agent that drafts posts and replies to reviews, plus Map Rank Tracker for Google Maps rankings. Local Pro, at $60, adds listing management across more than 70 directories and review management. The AI Visibility Toolkit, at $99 a month per domain, tracks 25 prompts daily in ChatGPT Search, AI Mode and Gemini, with weekly brand reports. Its own reports measure the brand and domain, not each city. For city-level AI tracking, Position Tracking can be set to a city or ZIP code and records AI Overview citations on any plan, and with Semrush One, from $199 a month, or the toolkit, ChatGPT and AI Mode answers per location; Semrush Enterprise adds market-level reporting.

So Semrush does have an AI layer for cities: AI Overviews in Position Tracking on any plan, and ChatGPT and AI Mode there with Semrush One or the AI Visibility Toolkit. Which signals matter for local AI visibility?

Whitespark's 2026 survey ranked these factors highest for AI search visibility:

1. Presence on expert-curated "best of" lists.
2. A dedicated page for each service.
3. Prominence on key industry domains.
4. Quality of unstructured citations, such as news articles, blogs, government sites and industry associations.

The survey's author noted that some factors depend on the platform. Google Business Profile details can feed Google's AI Mode and Gemini, but other assistants may not see them. How can you check AI answers for each city yourself?

Semrush's Position Tracking can follow some AI answers by city, but Whitespark's tools do not, and no tracker covers every assistant a customer might use, so add a simple manual check. Each month, ask five questions a customer would ask, such as the best provider of your service in your city, in ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Mode. Set each assistant to your city where it allows, or name the city in the question. Record whether you appear, which competitors are named and which sites are cited. Which should you choose?

• Whitespark if local rankings, listings and reviews are the priority. Those foundations also feed AI answers.
