PromptWatch Review: Prompt Management and Multi-LLM Visibility Tracking
PromptWatch tracks your prompts daily on four AI models you choose from an unusually wide list. The list covers ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Claude, Gemini, Meta's Llama, DeepSeek and Grok. It also adds citation analysis, AI crawler analytics and content agents. Plans run from $95 a month for 50 prompts and 6,000 responses to $579 a month for 350 prompts, and paid plans start with a seven-day trial. Its strength is prompt-level tracking across more models than most mid-market tools offer. Its content agents produce drafts that need editing. The data is only as good as the prompt set you give it, so plan that before the trial starts.
What does PromptWatch track?
- Prompt tracking: daily answers to the prompts you choose, with brand mentions, position and competitors.
- Citation analysis: which sources answers cite, broken down by content type such as list articles, blog posts and product pages, and whether you are mentioned in them.
- Off-site citations: third-party pages where your brand appears, or is missing, in cited sources.
- Agent Analytics: when AI crawlers from ChatGPT, Gemini and others read your pages, with integrations for CDNs and hosts such as Fastly and Vercel.
- Agents: a chat assistant over your data, content gap analysis, content refresh and AEO article drafting, using monthly agent credits.
- Integrations: Webflow, Framer, WordPress, Google Search Console, Slack, and MCP and API access on every plan.
How much does it cost?

| Responses a month | 6,000 | 18,000 | 42,000 |
| Projects | 1 | 2 | 5 |
| Agent credits a month | 500 | 1,500 | 2,500 |

| Extras | Agent chat, MCP and API | Knowledge base, Agent Analytics | Shopping insights, ads radar, agentic optimisation |
Annual billing and agency plans are also available. The response allowances equal prompts × 4 models × 30 days, so each prompt is checked once a day on each chosen model. Per response, that is about 1.6 cents on Essential and about 1.4 cents on Professional and Business. Plan details are compared in more depth in PromptWatch pricing.
Which four models should you choose?
Four slots from nine options is the main decision you make in PromptWatch. Choose by where your buyers ask:
- ChatGPT is the default for almost everyone, given its reach.
- Google AI Overviews or AI Mode matter if your buyers search on Google. Overviews reach far more people, and AI Mode answers longer research questions.
- Perplexity matters for research-heavy and technical audiences.
- Claude matters for business and technical buyers who use it at work.
- Gemini matters where people use Google's assistant directly, including on Android.
- Meta's Llama, DeepSeek and Grok matter for specific audiences and markets. Few brands need them in the first four.
A common starting set is ChatGPT, AI Overviews, Perplexity and one of Gemini or Claude. Revisit the choice after a month of data, and swap a model that never changes anything for one your sales team hears about.
How should you manage your prompt set?
Prompt-level tools reward careful prompt management. PromptWatch starts you with your URL and a small set of category prompts, and you build from there. A structure that works:
- Source prompts from real questions: sales calls, support tickets, search queries and on-site search. Suggested prompts are a start, not the set.
- Mix intent types: discovery ("best X for Y"), comparison ("X vs Y"), brand ("is X any good?"), problem ("how to fix Z") and factual ("does X integrate with Y?").
- Label every prompt by topic, funnel stage and product line, so reports can be cut the way your business thinks.
- Keep a core set stable for trend reporting. Changing prompts breaks comparisons over time.
- Hold a rotating set, about a fifth of your allowance, for testing new questions each month.
- Retire prompts that never vary and never matter, such as brand questions you always win.
- Split by location where answers differ by country or city, which Business plans track down to city level.
Whether tools should use fixed prompts or generate them is discussed in whether AI visibility tools monitor fixed prompts or generate prompts automatically.
How good are the citation and crawler insights?
The breakdown of cited sources by content type is practical. If most answers for your category cite list articles and you appear in few of them, the job is outreach to those lists, not another blog post. PromptWatch's off-site citation view points you to the specific pages.
Agent Analytics answers a different question: are AI crawlers reading your pages at all, and which ones? That matters because a page that is never fetched cannot be read or quoted by that assistant. The data comes through integrations with your CDN or host, so check that your setup is supported. You can get similar data from server logs, but a dashboard next to prompt tracking makes the connection easier to see.
What about the content agents?
Professional and Business include AEO article drafts, five and ten a month, written from the sources AI cites for your prompts. Treat them as briefs and first drafts. Articles written to resemble what is already cited rarely add the specifics, such as data, first-hand detail, current prices or expert judgement, that make a page worth citing over the existing ones. Publishing many lightly edited AI articles also risks breaching Google's policy on scaled content abuse.
What are the limits?
- Four models per plan. Brands whose buyers are spread across five or more assistants must choose, or pay for a custom plan.
- One run per prompt per model per day. Daily single samples show trends well but can swing from day to day, so judge changes over weeks, not days.
- Agent credits run out. Heavy use of the chat assistant, gap analysis and drafting draws on the monthly credit allowance.
- Content volume is small. Five or ten article drafts a month help a writer, but they are not a content programme.
How does it compare with other trackers?
PromptWatch's model choice is broader than many mid-market tools, which often cover three to five engines. Its prices sit close to Peec AI's, with similar prompt counts, and it adds crawler analytics and agent credits. Comparisons with specific rivals are in PromptWatch vs Profound and PromptWatch vs AthenaHQ. A lower-cost option, from $59 a month with a free trial, is covered in the Knowatoa review.
How should you run the seven-day trial?
- Prepare 50 prompts in advance, labelled by intent and topic.
- Choose your four models before starting.
- Connect Agent Analytics on day one, since crawler data needs time to accumulate.
- Run ten prompts yourself in the same models, and compare the brands and sources with what PromptWatch records.
- Review the citation breakdown for the questions you lose, and decide whether it points to specific actions.
- Draft one article with the agent, and judge how much editing it needs.
