Search Atlas and OTTO Review for AI Visibility Tracking

Search Atlas is an SEO platform built around OTTO, an agent that finds and deploys on-site fixes such as titles, schema, canonical tags and internal links. AI visibility tracking comes with its Growth plan, at $159 a month billed annually, covering ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Mode. The Pro plan, at $319, adds Copilot and Perplexity. Its appeal is automation. The catch for AI visibility is how fixes are deployed. Changes made through OTTO's JavaScript pixel may be invisible to AI crawlers that do not run JavaScript. Changes deployed at the edge through Cloudflare, or in your CMS, are not affected. Use it if you want SEO work automated, and deploy AI-critical fixes in a way every crawler can see.

What does Search Atlas include?

  • OTTO SEO: an agent that scans your site and deploys fixes. Search Atlas lists titles, meta tags, headings, alt text, schema, canonical URLs, redirects, broken links, Open Graph tags and internal links.
  • Atlas Agent and Content Genius: content planning and AI writing, with publishing to connected CMSs.
  • AI Visibility: tracking of brand presence in AI answers, on Growth and above.
  • Google Business Profile automation: scheduled posts and review replies. Google discontinued Business Profile Q&A in late 2025, so ignore any Q&A features still listed.
  • Ads tools: Meta and Google ad studios on Growth and above.
  • Reporting: white-label dashboards on Pro, and client portals on Agency and Enterprise.

How much does it cost?

As listed on Search Atlas's pricing page, billed annually (monthly billing costs 25% more: $99 for Starter, $199 for Growth and $399 for Pro):

Plan Price Credits a month Seats Projects AI visibility
Starter $79/mo ($950 a year) 50,000 1 1 None
Growth $159/mo ($1,910 a year) 120,000 3 2 ChatGPT, Gemini, Google AI Mode
Pro $319/mo ($3,828 a year) 400,000 5 4 Adds Copilot and Perplexity: 5 platforms
Agency / Enterprise From $999/mo ($11,988 a year) 1,000,000+ 10 10+ As Pro, with portfolio capacity

Plans run on "universal credits", a shared execution budget across SEO, content, AI visibility and ads. Growth includes a seven-day trial with free onboarding. So the entry price for AI tracking is Growth, not Starter.

Search Atlas review for AI search visibility and LLM discovery

As an AI visibility tracker, Search Atlas is adequate rather than specialised. Growth's three platforms cover the biggest surfaces, and Pro's five add Copilot and Perplexity. Claude is not listed. Because credits are shared across the whole platform, heavy content or SEO work can eat into what is left for tracking. Ask how many AI visibility checks a plan's credits buy at your chosen frequency.

Its real distinction is the loop from finding to fixing. Most trackers stop at recommendations. Search Atlas can push the on-page part of a fix to your site. For teams without developers, that removes a bottleneck. It also removes a review step, so decide in advance which changes OTTO may deploy on its own and which need approval.

How does OTTO deploy changes, and why does it matter for AI crawlers?

Search Atlas offers several deployment routes:

  • The OTTO Pixel: a script in your site's header that applies changes in the browser at runtime.
  • Cloudflare: installation through Cloudflare, which can apply changes at the edge before the page reaches the visitor.
  • Your CMS or code pipeline, where changes become part of the page itself.

This matters because most AI crawlers do not run JavaScript. A 2024 study by Vercel and MERJ found that none of the major AI crawlers it tracked rendered JavaScript, including OAI-SearchBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot. Googlebot does render JavaScript, so Google can see pixel-applied changes, though rendering can lag behind crawling. So a title, schema block or internal link added only by the pixel may reach Google but not ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity. For anything you want AI systems to read, such as key facts, headings, FAQs or links, make sure it is in the HTML the server sends. Use edge or CMS deployment, or make the change in the page itself. How to check what crawlers see is covered in how to make JavaScript-rendered pages readable to AI crawlers.

Search Atlas OTTO review: does its Agent Brain increase LLM traffic?

Look for independent tests before accepting any claim either way, and check Search Atlas's own documentation for a feature called "Agent Brain" before relying on the name. Search Atlas describes OTTO as an agent that runs on autopilot, and cites figures such as a 99% reduction in manual SEO tasks and more than 30,000 websites optimised. Those are measures of effort saved, not of AI traffic gained.

Whether OTTO raises traffic from ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's AI features depends on three things:

  1. Whether the fixes address why you were not cited. Titles and schema rarely decide citations. Missing answers, weak sources and blocked crawlers usually do.
  2. Whether AI crawlers can see the fixes, as explained above.
  3. Whether off-site signals change, since assistants lean heavily on reviews, lists and coverage elsewhere.

To test it, split comparable pages into two groups. Let OTTO change one group, deployed server-side or at the edge, and leave the other alone. Track AI referral sessions and AI citations for both groups over six to eight weeks. If the changed group rises and the other does not, OTTO helped.

How can you check what AI crawlers see after OTTO deploys a change?

A quick test takes a few minutes per page:

  1. Fetch the raw HTML of a changed page without running JavaScript, for example with a command-line request or a browser's "view source". This is roughly what most AI crawlers receive.
  2. Search the source for the new title, schema block or link OTTO added.
  3. Compare with the rendered page in your browser's inspector, which includes JavaScript changes.
  4. If the change appears only in the rendered page, it was applied by the pixel, and most AI crawlers will not see it.
  5. Check your server or CDN logs for AI crawler visits to the page after the change, to confirm it has been fetched since.

If important changes fail the test, switch to edge deployment through Cloudflare, or make them in your CMS.

What about lock-in?

Search Atlas offers "Deep Freeze", which it says keeps OTTO's deployed changes live even after you cancel, at no charge. That reduces the risk of losing work if you leave. Still, keep a record of what OTTO changed. Where changes live only in the pixel layer, check how Deep Freeze preserves them, and consider moving important ones into your CMS.

Who is it for?

  • Good fit: agencies and in-house teams without developers who want routine SEO fixes deployed automatically, plus AI tracking on the same bill.
  • Reasonable fit: local businesses that want Google Business Profile tasks automated. Review automated review replies before they go out.
  • Poor fit: teams that need deep AI visibility analysis across many engines, including Claude, or strict change control.

Comparable reviews are in the RankPrompt review, the SE Ranking AI visibility tracker review and the AthenaHQ review.

What do people ask about Search Atlas?

Does the Starter plan include AI visibility?

No. AI visibility starts on Growth, and Copilot and Perplexity come on Pro.

Can OTTO break my site?

Automated changes can conflict with theme code or other plugins. Start with approval required, review changes, and keep a rollback plan.

Does OTTO's schema help AI citations?

Schema helps Google's rich results. For assistants that read visible text, the facts must also be on the page.

How do I install OTTO?

Through the OTTO Pixel in your site's header, or through Cloudflare for an edge setup. Edge or CMS deployment is better for AI crawlers.
