Vendasta Review: How Reviews and Listings Support Local AI Visibility
Vendasta is a white-label platform that agencies resell to local businesses. Its listings and reviews tools cover two foundations of local AI visibility. The first is accurate business details everywhere AI looks. The second is a steady flow of fresh, answered reviews. Listing Sync Pro keeps details consistent on more than 50 sites, and a citation builder feeds the major data aggregators. Reputation AI requests reviews and drafts replies. A newer AI Search Specialist, in open beta, reports how a business appears in ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. None of this guarantees a recommendation, but together these tools address the facts and trust signals AI draws on. Most businesses buy Vendasta through an agency rather than directly.
What is Vendasta?
Vendasta sells a platform to agencies, media companies and software firms, which resell its products to small and multi-location businesses under their own brand. Partners pay no platform subscription if they meet a monthly minimum spend on Vendasta products: $99 a month on Starter, $499 on Professional and $999 on Premium, with custom Enterprise terms. Products such as listings and reputation tools are billed per client location at wholesale prices, and the agency sets the retail price. So a local business asking "what does Vendasta cost?" will usually get an answer from its agency, not from Vendasta.
How do listings support local AI visibility?
AI assistants build local answers from many sources, including map listings, directories and data aggregators that feed other services. When those sources disagree about your address, hours or services, AI answers can state the wrong details or leave you out. Vendasta's listings tools aim to make them agree:
- Listing Sync Pro pushes one set of business details to more than 50 listing sites in real time, in the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, France, Britain and Italy, with a US tier powered by Yext covering more than 70.
- Citation builder submits details to the aggregators Data Axle, Neustar Localeze and Foursquare, which Vendasta says spreads them to more than 300 platforms.
- Listing scans check 50 or more services, including Google, Facebook, Bing, Yelp, MapQuest and Foursquare, for errors.
- AI-written profiles draft Google and Facebook business descriptions from the name, location and category.
Consistency helps AI get facts right; it does not by itself make AI choose you. How far listings go is covered in whether inconsistent NAP data can stop ChatGPT recommending a business.
How do reviews support it?
Reviews give AI assistants reasons to recommend a business: the rating, how many reviews there are, how recent they are and what customers praise or criticise. AI answers often quote review themes and cite review sites. Vendasta's Reputation AI supports this in four ways:
- Review requests by email and text message, triggered from tools such as QuickBooks Online and Jobber after a job.
- AI replies posted to Google and Facebook reviews in the reviewer's language.
- Monitoring across many review sites, from Google and Yelp to Tripadvisor, Healthgrades and Houzz.
- Insights from review and customer satisfaction data, through a chat interface.
Two cautions. Google's review policies forbid selectively asking only happy customers or offering incentives, so request reviews from all customers. And automated replies should sound human and address specifics; a stream of generic responses can read as spam to customers and does little for trust. More on review signals is in how online reputation management affects AI search recommendations.
Which review sites matter most for AI answers?
Google reviews matter for Google's AI Overviews, AI Mode and Gemini, which can draw on Business Profile data. Other assistants rely more on reviews they can find on the open web and through data partners, such as Yelp, whose reviews and ratings are now licensed to OpenAI for ChatGPT's local answers. Industry sites carry weight too: Healthgrades for clinics, Houzz for home services, Tripadvisor for hospitality. A sensible spread is Google plus one or two sites your customers actually use, rather than thin coverage everywhere. Vendasta's monitoring shows where reviews already appear; ask your agency to point review requests at the two or three sites that matter in your category, leaving out Yelp, which forbids asking customers for reviews. Examples for restaurants are covered in how OpenTable, Yelp and delivery app listings affect what AI says.
What does AI Search Specialist add?
AI Search Specialist is Vendasta's newest AI tool, in open beta for existing Local SEO Pro accounts at no extra charge. It keeps services, attributes and descriptions up to date across Google, Apple and other platforms connected through Listing Sync, and produces on-demand reports on how a business appears in AI answers across ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity, benchmarked against competitors, along with AI readiness and SEO checks. Vendasta says a fuller Premium edition is planned. As a beta covering three engines, it is a useful check for agencies, not yet a full tracker.
Where does it fall short?
- Reseller model. Prices and service quality depend on the agency reselling it.
- AI tracking in beta, with three engines and on-demand reports rather than continuous tracking.
- Automation risks, in reply quality and in keeping AI-written profile text accurate.
- Signals, not guarantees. Listings and reviews are foundations; content and mentions on trusted local sites also shape AI answers.
We have not tested Vendasta ourselves; this review is based on its published pages.
Who is it for?
- Good fit: agencies serving many local clients that want listings, reviews and reporting under their own brand.
- Good fit: multi-location and franchise businesses served by an agency that uses Vendasta.
- Poor fit: a single business wanting to buy direct, which can usually manage its main profiles and review requests itself or use a direct-sale tool.
Other listing platforms are compared in whether Semrush Local improves AI confidence by fixing listings.
How should you measure the effect?
- Before changes, ask 10 local questions per location in ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google's AI Mode, and record whether you are named and which facts are wrong.
- Fix listings first, then run review requests for two to three months.
- Track review count, average rating and recency each month.
- Repeat the same questions and compare both accuracy and inclusion.
Answers that search the web as they respond can reflect corrected listings soon after the directories update; answers drawn from a model's training data can lag for months. Inclusion usually moves more slowly than accuracy, and neither is guaranteed.
What might this look like in practice?
Consider an illustrative pest control company, Brightfield Pest, served by an agency that resells Vendasta. A listing scan found an old phone number on eight sites and a duplicate Bing listing. Listing Sync Pro corrected them, and Reputation AI began requesting reviews after each job through the company's scheduling software. Over three months, Brightfield went from 40 to 95 Google reviews. The agency's AI Search Specialist report showed it newly named in Gemini answers for termite treatment in its town, while ChatGPT still favoured a competitor listed on a regional home services guide, which became the agency's next target.
