Waikay vs Otterly vs Knowatoa: Which Tracks Brand Visibility in AI Answers Best?

Waikay, Otterly and Knowatoa all track how AI assistants mention your brand, but each is best at something different. Waikay gives the most prompts for the money and is the only one of the three with a fact tracker for false claims. Waikay's one-user Starter, at $24.95 a month, is the lowest price; Otterly is the cheapest daily tracking, $29 for 15 prompts on four engines, with page audits. Knowatoa starts at $59 on three services, covers seven on its $199 plan, and adds AI agents that draft content for your gaps. It does not publish its question limits, though. The best choice depends on whether you need volume, a low entry price, or help turning gaps into content.

What does each track?

Waikay tracks share of voice per prompt and per model, a topical presence score, cited pages and competitor rankings. Its Topic Reports compare what AI models know about your brand with what your site says, which exposes knowledge gaps. Its Source Tracking splits citations into knowledge sources, the pages models draw on to understand your brand, and commercial sources, the pages cited when they answer competitive questions in your niche. It works in 13 languages and more than 40 countries.

Otterly tracks mentions, citations, share of voice and a Brand Visibility Index across its four core engines. Its GEO audit checks your pages for crawlability, rendering and structured data, and maps the sub-questions a page should answer. It is covered in depth in the OtterlyAI review.

Knowatoa tracks which answers you are missing from, where competitors appear instead, which sites AI models trust most, and sentiment alerts when assistants start saying the wrong things about you. It suggests likely questions, lets you track product and executive names under a brand, and supports several languages and locations. You can track any number of sites, but they all share one question pool.

Which is best for finding gaps?

All three show competitor gaps, but they find different kinds:

  • Knowledge gaps (Waikay). Topic Reports show where a model's understanding of your brand is thin or wrong, compared with your own content. This suits brands that assistants describe vaguely or out of date.
  • Page gaps (Otterly). The GEO audit shows where your own pages are hard for AI systems to read or fail to answer related sub-questions.
  • Question gaps (Knowatoa). It lists the questions where competitors appear and you do not, and its AI agents, included from the Starter plan, research those gaps and draft articles for approval.

If assistants mention you but get facts wrong, Waikay's Fact Tracker is the most direct help. It lists AI-generated claims about your brand as a checklist, so you can mark each correct or inaccurate. Fixing the underlying sources is covered in how to make a brand's information consistent across AI-visible sources.

What does a tracked prompt cost?

Dividing the entry price by the prompts included:

Plan Price Prompts Per prompt per month
Waikay one-user plan $24.95 Up to 160 About $0.16, limited by 8 report credits
Waikay Small Teams $69.95 120 About $0.58
Waikay Large Teams $199.95 360 About $0.56
Otterly Lite $29 15 About $1.93
Otterly Standard $189 100 $1.89
Knowatoa Starter $59 Not published Unknown

Waikay looks far cheaper per prompt, but frequency and engines matter as much as the count. Otterly re-runs each prompt daily on four engines. Waikay's custom scheduling means its cost per answer depends on how often you schedule each prompt. Ask whether a prompt scheduled daily counts once or thirty times against your allowance. For Knowatoa, confirm the question limit during the trial before comparing it at all.

What should you check before trusting the numbers?

  • App or API. Waikay's plan names "Sonar", which is the name of Perplexity's API models. That suggests Perplexity answers come from the API rather than the consumer app, which can differ. Ask each vendor how answers are collected.
  • Runs per prompt. One run per check produces noisy results, because assistants vary their answers. Ask how many times each prompt runs per update.
  • Sentiment accuracy. Automatic sentiment tagging is often imperfect. Some Otterly users have criticised its tags in public reviews. Read a sample of answers yourself.
  • Engine match. Knowatoa's Starter plan covers only ChatGPT and Google's AI features. If your buyers use Perplexity or Claude, you need Growth.

How should you test them?

Run all three trials in the same week with the same ten prompts:

  1. Pick ten prompts you already check by hand, split between category, comparison and brand questions.
  2. Match the engines as closely as each plan allows: ChatGPT and Google's AI features are common to all three.
  3. Compare mention rates for each prompt with your own manual runs over three days.
  4. Read the answers behind each tool's sentiment and position figures.
  5. Test the distinctive feature: Waikay's Fact Tracker, Otterly's audit on your top page, and one Knowatoa content draft.
  6. Price your real set-up: the number of prompts, engines and frequency you need.

Which should you choose?

  • Waikay if you want many prompts across several models, and your main worry is inaccurate or outdated descriptions.
  • Otterly if you want the cheapest daily tracking on four engines, and audits of your own pages.
  • Knowatoa if you want help producing content for your gaps, and can use the $199 plan for full engine coverage.

Similar tools are compared in the Rankscale review, the AIclicks review and the Lumar GEO and AEO toolkit review. Enterprise listening suites are covered in the Brandwatch review.

What might this look like in practice?

Consider an illustrative project-management startup, Norvoway, choosing between the three. In a one-week trial with ten prompts, all three showed Norvoway missing from most "best project management tool for agencies" answers. Waikay's Fact Tracker also flagged that two models listed a pricing tier Norvoway had dropped a year earlier. Otterly's audit found its pricing page loaded plans through a script that crawlers could not read. Knowatoa drafted an agency use-case article for one missing question. Norvoway chose Otterly for daily tracking of its core prompts, fixed the pricing page first, and ran a monthly Waikay check on the facts.
