Wix AI Visibility Tracking Review: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity
Wix's AI Visibility Overview, launched in July 2025, lives in Wix Analytics. It tests up to 50 questions on ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity, and scores the share of questions in which your site is mentioned. It also shows competitors, the sources behind answers, how AI perceives your brand, and AI bot and visitor traffic to your site. It is available with Premium plans but uses AI credits, which the site owner pays for, and you can run at most five tests a month. That makes it a useful periodic check for Wix site owners, not continuous tracking. The traffic section, which draws on Wix's own hosting data, is the part most standalone trackers cannot match.
Where to find GEO features and AI visibility scores in Wix
Wix documents the AI Visibility Overview as part of Wix Analytics, among its analytics overviews. In your site dashboard, open Analytics, then the analytics overviews, and choose AI Visibility Overview. Some owners come across it from the SEO area, because the traffic section links through to Wix's SEO analytics reports. If you do not see it, check that the site is on a Premium plan. Wix says the tool's limits apply to all Premium plans.
What does the AI Visibility Overview show?
According to Wix's help centre, the page has six parts:
- Platform choice: you select ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity to analyse.
- Site mentions and AI visibility score: Wix generates questions from your site description, URL and business name, sends them to the chosen platform, and calculates the percentage of questions in which your site was mentioned.
- Competitors by visibility score: other businesses' scores on the same questions.
- Top sources by references: the external sites AI draws on for you and your competitors, with a full list available.
- Brand perception: the AI's answer to how your business is perceived online, to review for sentiment, strengths and weaknesses.
- Traffic from AI platforms: bot and visitor traffic to your site from the chosen platform. Wix notes that data on user queries is currently available for ChatGPT and Perplexity bots only.
What are the limits?
- Five tests a month. Changing your questions requires a new test, which you can run once a day, up to five times a month. Wix says these limits are fixed for all Premium plans and cannot be extended.
- Up to 50 stored questions.
- One platform at a time. Each test covers the platform you select.
- AI credits. Running tests uses AI credits, paid by the site owner even when a collaborator runs the test.
- Five past results. You can view your last five test results, but not edit their questions.
So the score is a snapshot of one run per question on one platform. With 20 questions, one extra mention moves the score by five percentage points. Compare scores across months with that in mind.
How good are the generated questions?
Wix generates the first set of questions from your site's description and name. Its example is a local question such as "Are there any cool places in Boston where I can paint pottery?". That is a reasonable start for local businesses. It is weaker for businesses whose customers describe their needs in different words from the site. Wix recommends clear, structured content and accurate SEO descriptions, partly because they improve question generation.
Replace generic questions with ones your customers actually ask. Use enquiries, reviews, sales calls and Search Console queries as sources. Keep a core set fixed between tests so the score means something over time. Wix also distinguishes these questions from SEO queries, which are real Google searches shown in its SEO reports. How to pick questions is covered in how to choose the right prompts to track for AI visibility.
Why is the traffic section valuable?
Because Wix hosts your site, it can see requests from AI platforms directly, both bot fetches and visitors who click through. Most standalone trackers only see answers. They cannot tell you whether ChatGPT or Perplexity actually fetched your pages, or whether anyone came to your site afterwards. Wix's traffic view connects those, at least for the platform you select. Use it to check that AI bots are reaching your important pages, and to watch AI visitor trends after you change content.
How does it compare with standalone trackers?
| Wix AI Visibility Overview | Standalone trackers | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost | Premium plan plus AI credits | Separate subscription, from about $20 a month; a few tools have free tiers |
| Engines | ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, one at a time | Often 3 to 10, together |
| Frequency | Up to 5 tests a month | Daily or weekly |
| Questions | Up to 50 | 15 to hundreds |
| Sources and competitors | Yes | Yes, often in more depth |
| AI bot and visitor traffic | Yes, from Wix's hosting data | Usually not, or through integrations |
For a small Wix business, the built-in tool is often enough to start. For daily tracking, more engines or Google's AI Overviews, a standalone tracker is needed. Options are compared in the SE Visible review and Profound vs Peec vs Otterly. Google's AI features are covered free by Search Console's generative AI report, which works for Wix sites too.
How should a Wix site owner use it?
- Review the generated questions and replace weak ones with real customer questions, up to 50.
- Run one test per platform early in the month: ChatGPT, then Gemini, then Perplexity. That uses three of your five tests.
- Keep two tests in reserve for checking after a significant content change.
- Note the sources that appear for competitors but not for you, and work on the ones you can influence, such as directories, review sites and local press.
- Check the traffic section for AI bot visits to key pages, and for visitors from AI platforms.
- Compare month to month using the same questions, and treat small changes as noise.
What might a small business see?
Consider an illustrative pottery studio in Boston with a Wix site. Its first ChatGPT test on 20 generated questions gave a visibility score of 15%, three mentions. Competitors scored higher, and the top sources included two local listings sites and a city guide. The studio edited its questions to match what customers asked, such as date-night classes and kids' parties. It updated its listings, and added a page on private group sessions with prices. The next month's test on the same questions scored 30%, and the traffic section showed ChatGPT visitors arriving on the new page. With only 20 questions, the owner treated the gain as encouraging rather than conclusive.
What do people ask about Wix AI visibility tracking?
Is the AI Visibility Overview free?
It is available on Premium plans, but tests use AI credits paid by the site owner.
Does it track Google AI Overviews?
No. It covers ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. Use Search Console for Google's AI features.
Can I run more than five tests a month?
No. Wix says the limit is fixed for all Premium plans.
Does it show which pages AI bots visited?
It shows bot and visitor traffic from the selected AI platform, with query data available for ChatGPT and Perplexity bots.
Why did my score change when I edited questions?
The score is the share of your current questions in which your site is mentioned. Changing the questions changes what is measured, so a new score is not comparable with the old one. Keep a fixed core set if you want a trend.
