Ubersuggest vs Semrush for AI Visibility Tracking: Which Costs Less?

Ubersuggest costs less up front. Its plans run $29, $49 and $99 a month, with one-time lifetime options, and all include AI Search Visibility for ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. But the tracking is light: 10 to 20 prompts per brand, updated monthly, fortnightly or weekly depending on plan, with one to three responses per prompt. Semrush's AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month per domain for 25 prompts tracked daily, plus weekly brand reports and a large prompt research database. Per brand, Semrush gives far more data. Ubersuggest's top plan can work out cheaper per answer for agencies spreading it across many small brands. The cheaper choice depends on how much data you actually need.

What does each include?

As listed on each vendor's pricing and help pages:

Ubersuggest Individual Ubersuggest Business Ubersuggest Enterprise Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit
Price $29/mo $49/mo $99/mo $99/mo per domain

Ubersuggest also sells lifetime plans as one-time payments. Semrush One, which bundles SEO and AI tracking, starts at $199 a month with 50 prompts.

How much AI data does each give per brand?

Counting answers per month, assuming each prompt runs on all three engines each cycle (check with each vendor how prompts are counted):

Plan Answers per brand per month Price per brand if fully used Cost per answer
Ubersuggest Individual 10 × 3 × 1 = 30 $29 About 97 cents
Ubersuggest Business 15 × 3 × 2 = 90 About $7 across 7 brands About 8 cents
Ubersuggest Enterprise 20 × 3 × 3 × about 4 = about 720 About $6.60 across 15 brands About 0.9 cents
Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit 25 × 3 × 30 = 2,250 $99 About 4.4 cents

Two lessons follow. Ubersuggest Individual is cheap to buy but expensive per answer, because a single monthly run of ten prompts is very little data. Ubersuggest Enterprise is very cheap per answer if you use all 15 brands, which suits agencies with many small clients. Semrush sits in between on unit cost, but gives far more data for one brand, updated daily.

Is a monthly or fortnightly update enough?

For most purposes, no. AI answers vary between runs and change often; Ahrefs found a 70% chance an AI Overview changes from one observation to the next. One response per prompt, once a month, tells you little more than a manual check. Weekly updates with three responses per prompt, as on Ubersuggest Enterprise, are the minimum for spotting trends. Daily tracking, as on Semrush, lets you average out noise and see the effect of changes within weeks.

What does Semrush offer that Ubersuggest does not?

  • Daily tracking of your own prompts on ChatGPT Search, AI Mode and Gemini.
  • Brand Performance reports each week, analysing share of voice, sentiment, narratives and citations across ChatGPT, AI Mode, Perplexity and Gemini on Semrush's own question set.
  • Prompt Research on a database of more than 317 million prompts, with topic volumes, intent, brands and cited domains.
  • A much larger SEO toolset, including larger keyword and backlink databases, if you use them.

More detail is in the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit review.

What does Ubersuggest offer that Semrush does not?

  • A far lower entry price, and lifetime purchase options.
  • Multiple brands on its higher plans, useful for freelancers and small agencies.
  • AI prompt ideas inside keyword research, alongside Google AI Overview data for keywords.
  • Simplicity: a beginner-friendly interface and coaching resources.

The trade-offs are smaller data sets for SEO research and much lighter AI tracking. How useful its AI data is in practice is covered in the Ubersuggest AI search visibility review.

Which costs less for your situation?

  • A single small business wanting a rough monthly check: Ubersuggest Individual, or free manual testing. At 30 answers a month, treat it as a prompt for further checks, not a measurement.
  • A freelancer or agency with 5 to 15 small clients: Ubersuggest Enterprise, for weekly tracking with three responses per prompt, spread across brands.
  • One brand that needs to see change quickly, or needs research data: Semrush's toolkit, or Semrush One if you also need its SEO tools.
  • Anyone needing Perplexity or Claude daily: neither is ideal; a dedicated tracker covers more engines.

Are Ubersuggest's lifetime plans worth it for AI tracking?

A one-time payment can make sense for Ubersuggest's SEO tools if you plan to use them for years. For AI tracking specifically, be cautious. AI visibility features are changing quickly, allowances such as prompts per brand and update cycles are set by the vendor, and what a lifetime plan includes in future is not guaranteed. Ubersuggest recommends using the free trial before buying a lifetime plan, and lifetime purchases are final. Treat any lifetime purchase as buying today's features, not future ones.

What do the cost-per-answer figures leave out?

  • Engines: Semrush's daily tracking covers AI Mode, which Ubersuggest's does not, while Ubersuggest includes AI Overviews in its AI model insights.
  • Research value: Semrush's prompt database and brand reports have value beyond tracking your own prompts.
  • Your time: reading and acting on the data costs more than either subscription.

How should you trial them?

  1. Start Ubersuggest's 7-day trial with your ten most important buyer questions.
  2. Run the same questions by hand three times each in ChatGPT and Gemini, and compare with Ubersuggest's results.
  3. If you consider Semrush, check whether its Prompt Research surfaces useful topics you had not considered, since that is a large part of its value.
  4. Price your real set-up: number of brands, prompts, engines and how often you need updates.

What might this look like in practice?

Consider an illustrative freelance SEO consultant, Maren, with nine small local clients. Semrush's toolkit would have cost $99 a month per client domain for brand reports. Ubersuggest Enterprise, at $99 a month in total, covered all nine clients with 20 prompts each, updated weekly with three responses per prompt. Maren reported monthly averages to clients, and for her one larger client, a regional law firm, added Semrush for daily tracking and research on its most valuable questions.
