What Does Google Actions Center Need for Restaurant Reservation Availability?

Restaurants do not connect to Google's Actions Center themselves; reservation platforms do. To show bookable times on Google Search, Maps and AI Mode, a restaurant needs a verified Business Profile and a booking partner that has built Google's Reservations End-to-End integration, the system behind Reserve with Google. Google's eligibility rules say the partner must have a direct contractual relationship with the restaurant, its merchant data must match the restaurant's Google Maps location, and the service must be bookable under Google's standard definition. The partner then supplies availability that Google shows as time slots. AI Mode's agentic restaurant booking, available in the US since August 2025 and extended to more markets, including the UK and India, in April 2026, finalises bookings through these partners.

What does each party need?

Party Requirement
Restaurant Verified Business Profile; an account with a booking partner that integrates with Reserve with Google; accurate name, address, category, phone and website
Booking partner Direct contract with each restaurant in its feed; Reservations End-to-End integration; merchant data matched to Maps locations; bookable services; availability data
Google Matches partner merchants to Maps listings; shows booking buttons and time slots on Search, Maps and AI Mode

Google's partner documentation lists optional add-ons on top of the core integration, including asynchronous bookings, waitlists, payments redirect, menus and business links, and features such as seating sections, a special request box, merchant-specific terms and marketing preferences.

Why do some restaurants show no available times?

The most common causes, drawn from Google's matching guidelines and Business Profile help:

  • No integrated partner. A plain “Reserve” link to your own site does not give Google availability. Google's Business Profile help notes that performance data is not available for custom links.
  • A failed or wrong match. Google tries to match each partner merchant to a Maps location using name, address and category. Minor differences matter: an extra suite number, a name padded with a promotion, or a shared address can cause a bad match, a missing button, or a button linked to the wrong place. Google says it takes down merchants that cannot be matched correctly.
  • Missing service or availability data. Google's matching guide says merchants become eligible to show once matched and supplied with service and availability data.
  • Newly added provider. Google says booking providers appear on a Business Profile within a week of setup.

How does a restaurant set it up?

  1. Verify your Business Profile and check that the name, address, category, phone and website are exactly right.
  2. Choose a booking partner that integrates with Reserve with Google. Google lists providers by country on its Reserve with Google partners page.
  3. Connect the provider in your Business Profile: select Bookings, then Get started, choose your provider and confirm. Google warns that providers may charge for bookings made through Google.
  4. Give the provider matching details. Ask them to use the same name and address as your Maps listing, without taglines or offers in the name.
  5. Keep availability current in the provider's system, including tables released for online booking.
  6. Check the result on your listing in Search and Maps after a week, and ask the provider to fix any match problems through its Actions Center support channel.

Waitlists work the same way: Google's help says you need a third-party Reserve with Google provider to use them.

How does this connect to AI Mode?

AI Mode can search several reservation platforms for real-time availability and show a curated list of restaurants with time slots. In the UK launch, Google named TheFork, SevenRooms, ResDiary, Mozrest, Foodhub, Dojo, DesignMyNight and OpenTable as booking partners; in the US it has named OpenTable, Resy and Tock. Semrush observed that choosing a time slot opens a Reserve with Google panel to complete the booking through the partner.

Google says people increasingly ask detailed questions, such as tables for large groups or places that handle dietary needs, and that searches for “when to book a table” rose 140% in the UK this year. Availability gets you onto the list, but the details decide whether you are chosen, so keep group booking rules, dietary options, menus and opening hours clear on your Business Profile and website.

So the same partner integration determines whether a restaurant can be booked from AI Mode. A restaurant without it may still be mentioned, but shoppers ready to book are sent elsewhere. How other listings shape what AI says about restaurants is covered in how OpenTable, Yelp and delivery app listings affect AI answers, and whether paid placements matter in whether brands need paid Tripadvisor or Yelp placement.

What about other AI assistants?

Booking partnerships differ by assistant. ChatGPT added table booking and waitlists through Yelp, OpenTable and Resy in the US and Canada in August 2026, and Perplexity partnered with OpenTable in 2025. A restaurant on a widely integrated platform reaches several assistants at once. Where an assistant sends people to your own website instead, the booking flow there needs to work for them, as covered in how to structure a site so agents can complete bookings. Google's separate AI calling feature, which phones businesses for some service quotes, is covered in whether Google's AI can call businesses.

What if you are a booking platform?

Platforms apply to become Reserve with Google partners through Google's partner interest form or a Google business development contact, after confirming they can build the integration. The integration covers merchant, service and availability data and the booking flow, and platforms with an existing waitlist or business link integration request this one through the Partner Portal. Matching quality is the platform's responsibility: Google recommends accurate, specific names, URLs, phone numbers, categories and full street addresses.

We have not integrated a booking platform with the Actions Center. This page is based on Google's Actions Center documentation, Business Profile help, and Google's announcements on AI Mode restaurant booking.

What might this look like in practice?

Consider an illustrative Manchester tapas bar, Casa Brasa, that appeared in AI Mode answers for group dinners but with no time slots. Its booking system was a form on its own website. The owner signed up with a booking provider that integrates with Reserve with Google, connected it under Bookings in the Business Profile, and asked the provider to list the bar with exactly the name and address on Maps, without the “2-for-1 Tuesdays” the old listing had added to the name. Within a week, time slots appeared on Maps, and AI Mode began showing the bar with bookable times for party-size searches.

What do people ask about Google restaurant reservations?

Can my restaurant connect directly to the Actions Center?

Not usually. Integrations are built by booking platforms that have direct contracts with restaurants.

Does Google charge restaurants for Reserve with Google bookings?

Google's help says your provider might charge you. Check your provider's terms.

Why does my Reserve button go to the wrong restaurant?

Usually a matching error. Make sure the provider uses the same name, address and category as your Maps listing.

Can AI Mode book my restaurant without a partner?

It can mention you, but time slots and booking come through integrated reservation partners.
